Obituary
SAMUEL TAKEO HIMOTO
Samuel Takeo Himoto, 82 years, passed on Monday, November 19., born in Isleton, California on April 15, 1925. He and his were interned at the Tule Lake War Relocation Center during World War II. Upon his release he moved to Rockford, IL where he graduated high school. He proudly served in the Army Air Corp stationed in Bremerton, Germany until 1949. After being honorably discharged, he relocated to Chicago where he worked at the Universal Pen Hospital and eventually became the owner of the shop that specialized in repairing vintage fountain pens and engraving. He retired in 2004.
He and his late wife Mary attended almost every Bears’ home football game since the middle 1950’s, enjoyed gardening and entertaining friends at their house, and were members of the Midwest Bonsai Society.
Sam was preceded in death by his two brothers, Roy and Mas. He is survived by his sister Bernice of Stockton, CA. He also leaves numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 8 at 2:00 PM at the Buddhist Temple of Chicago at 1151 W. Leland Avenue. In lieu of koden and flowers, a donation can be made to a charity of your choice in Sam’s memory.
