COOPER, RON
Ron Cooper: 62, of Chicago; passed away Sept. 3, 2007. Longtime jazz vocalist; pianist, drummer and songwriter, Ron performed at clubs and concert halls in Chicago and Kansas City. He was admired for his original and inspired scat-singing style. His family members were his musical colleagues and the jazz community throughout Chicago. A wake will be held Sunday, Sept. 23, 2 to 4 p. m. at Lakeview Funeral Home, 1458 W. Belmont, Chicago. There will be a gathering of friends, a debut of a documentary about Ron and a live jazz performance in his honor on Oct. 5 from 8 p.m. at Quencher's, 2401 N. Western Ave., Chicago. There will also be an evening of jazz dedicated to Ron at The Gallery Cabaret, 2020 N. Oakley, Chicago, on Oct. 31 from 9 p.m.
Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations for final expenses may be made to Quencher's, 2401 N. Western, Chicago.
