Obituary

Margaret G. Weichel, 92, of Eau Claire, WI and formerly of Chicago, IL, died Saturday, February 17, 2007, in Eau Claire. She was born in Chicago on November 20, 1914, the daughter of Christian and Elise (Woppenschnur) Glenz. She graduated from Northwestern University in Chicago where she was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. Margaret was employed at her family’s business, Dixie Pine Tar, in Chicago. She married Elmer V. Weichel in Tacoma, WA on December 2, 1944. Margaret was a lifelong member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Chicago and a member of the Chicago Garden Club. She was an 87 year resident of Chicago, living many of those years in the Wildwood District. She moved to Eau Claire in 2002. Margaret is survived by her sister-in-law, Lorene Wachter of Eau Claire; two nieces, Kay Kennedy and Nancy Howard both of Eau Claire; great nieces and great nephews; and cousins, including Irene Buethe of Glen Ellyn, IL. She is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer in 1972; her parents; and cousins, Dr. Edward Banner and Donald Banner.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2007, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 1500 W. Belmont Ave., Chicago, IL. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Chicago. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Arrangements with Lakeview Funeral Home, Chicago.
Services were also held in Eau Claire this past Friday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home.
