Richard L Olson, of Yorkville, IL passed away June 4, 2018 in Chicago at the age of 94. He was married to Leone (Langhart) Olson for 64 years. Together, they were long term members of the Yorkville Methodist Church and then the Trinity United Methodist Church. They enjoyed travel, making trips to Alaska, Norway, and many of the 48 states. He was a World War II Army Veteran.

He was the ultimate care taker, of his family, home, and church. He gave his family a sense of security and supported them in any way needed. He enjoyed going on several scouting and 4-H trips with his son.

He worked his whole career for Commonwealth Edison. During the worst of weather he would go to work near home or to different parts of the country. However, Richard was raised on a farm during the Depression and farming was in his blood. He always lent a willing hand to family still farming. He was knowledgeable and liked to visit about farming.

Richard is survived by his wife, Leone and their two children, Dr. Richard W (Cyndia) Olson of Buffalo, OK and Teddi Olson of Chicago, IL. Also surviving are three grandchildren Dr. Lane (Audra) Olson of Lakin, KS, Katy (Ryan) Hoyt of Tulsa, OK and Kallie Olson of Buffalo, OK. Three surviving great grandchildren are Adalee and Elijah Olson and Benaiah Hoyt. He was predeceased by his sister Rita A Rapp and great grandchild Ira Hoyt. He is also survived by multiple nieces and nephews.

There will be a graveside service at 1 p.m. June 7 at the Elmwood Cemetery in Yorkville, Illinois.
