DONALD L. MORRIS

Col. Donald L. Morris, USMC (Ret.), Beloved husband of Emily (Lee) Morris, passed away suddenly and peacefully at his residence
​in Chicago on Aug. 7, 2015. He was born In Louisville, KY on June 30, 1934 to Robert T. and Dorothy Morris.

He is survived by his son, Steven (Sharon), daughters Linda (Curtis) Jacobs, Laura Morris, Lisa (Larry) Timchak, Kristen (Jim) Burgess and step-daughters Leslie Schmitz and Stefanie (Charles) Shanks. Sisters, Dorothy Anne Yager, Peggy Martin and Marian (John) Brown. He was preceded in death by his sister Mary Ruth Mockton. He was also blessed with 14 beloved grandchildren and many nieces and nephews in whom he took great pride and interest in their accomplishments.

He was a Notre Dame graduate. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956 - 1983. He then joined the Chicago Law Firm of Keck, Mahin & Cate as Chief Operating Officer. He also ran his own consulting firm for several years.

Don was a life-long volunteer and was drawn to helping those less fortunate. He touched the lives of many people in a very genuine and personal way. He was proud to be a Marine and loved his country. He was an avid reader an sportsman. He enjoyed playing the piano and guitar and singing along with family and friends.

We will miss his charming smile, the twinkle in his eyes and his caring advice. His family and friends are so blessed to have been loved by such an amazing man. His life was well lived.

In keeping with his wishes he was cremated. A "celebration of his life" will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made in his name to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Program
