Obituary

Paul Duffy, of Chicago, has passed away after a lengthy illness. Paul's wit, charm, and kindness drew a large circle of friends to him. Paul approached life with a rare brand of humor and intelligence, always intellectually curious and always seeking to have new adventures. Those who loved him remember the many times that he brought laughter into their lives and that he always made himself available to help others. When he became interested in something, he never did it half way, and his passions took him in many directions. His love of movies, for example, led him to take several film courses, including several taught by Roger Ebert. He was an ardent White Sox fan, not missing opening day for over 20 years. He was an athlete, who participated in more than 25 marathons nationwide. Paul’s educational interests led him to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, a Master’s in Business Administration, and a Juris Doctor. He spent much of his free time as an avid reader, including reading everything from books about politics to the classics. He was also a true Chicagoan, always actively participating in the cultural life of the City.

Of all of his loves, though, none was greater than the love he had for his two little girls, Lara and Deirdre. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Thomas and Ann, and is survived by his siblings, Thomas, Mary, Maurene, and Anne (Dennis), his nieces and nephews, many cousins, his beloved Shari and his two precious children.

Visitation will be on Friday, August 21st, from 5-9 pm at Lakeview Funeral Home, 1458 W. Belmont Avenue, Chicago. The funeral mass will be Saturday at 10 am at St. Alphonsus Church, 1429 W. Wellington, Chicago. Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
