With great sorrow, we would like to inform you that Yoshi Katsumura passed away on Sunday, Aug. 2 after a courageous, one-and-a half year battle with cancer.

Yoshi, 65, was the legendary and longtime chef-proprietor of Yoshi’s Café, located in Chicago’s Lakeview. Yoshi and his wife Nobuko have continuously operated the fine dining establishment since 1982.
As his final wish, Yoshi asked that the legacy of the tremendous employees and customers of Yoshi’s Café continue on for many years to come.
