Obituary

October 16, 1939 - December 21, 2014
Barbara Ann (Flynn) Diez, age 75 of Chicago Illinois, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2014. She was born to the late William Flynn and Irene (Orsi) Flynn on October 16, 1939.

Barbara, known as Bonnie to her family and friends, was born in San Francisco, Ca and moved to San Rafael when she was very young. She attended St. Raphael's grammar school and Marin Catholic where she was a song leader.

After raising her four children she settled in Burlingame, Ca where she worked for California Casualty for 17 years. She then retired and moved to San Ramon, Ca to be closer to family.

Barbara's greatest joy was spending time with her family. She especially loved entertaining during the holidays. She had a great sense of humor and a quick wit. She loved watching football. She followed Notre Dame and The Oregon Ducks on Saturday and the 49ers on Sunday. She also enjoyed reading and watching Judge Judy :)

Barbara is survived by her sons: Michael (Tammy) Diez, Richard Diez, and daughters Linda Diez and Dianna (Tim) Murphy and her sister LaVerne (Frank) Gibson. She is also survived by her five grandchildren: Brooke Diez, Steven Murphy, Bryan Murphy, Kevin Murphy and Brandon Murphy.

As Barbara was a private person, in place of a large service, she requested a small, intimate service with immediate family members. There will be a private service at Mount Olivet cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her mother and father.
