Mary Ellen Smith (Crotty) 8/31/36 to 2/27/13

Mary Ellen Smith passed away Wednesday, 2/27/13, from lung cancer.
Mary Ellen was born in Chicago on August 31, 1936 to Mary Therese (McNamara) and Edward Crotty. She was married to Robert Dale Smith on 5/31/58 and went on to raise three children, Brian Robert Smith, Timothy Joseph Smith, and Doreen Marie Smith. She then went on to get her teaching degree and spent 27 years teaching high school mathematics in the Chicago Public School System before retiring.
Mary Ellen and Bob did a good amount of traveling all over the world over the years, reaching such countries as China, Australia, Kenya, Turkey, most of Europe, much of South America, Caribbean, and the U.S. They spent their winters in Florida for most of the last two decades.
She is survived by her children and her grandchildren, Amy Ellen Hallahan (Smith); Bridget Ann Smith; Hannah Rose Smith; and Conor Boyce Smith; and her daughters-in-law, Joanne Smith (Pendzimaz) and Patsy Smith (Boyce).
She was a beautiful, classy lady and is sorely missed.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, March 8th from 4pm to 9pm with a memorial service at 7:00pm at Lakeview Funeral Home, 1458 W. Belmont, Chicago, IL 60657.
