Obituary
Tomiko Eleanor Shimojima passed away peacefully on Nov. 10, 2012, at age 92. Tomi was the beloved wife of the late George and loving mother of Anne (Jonathan Friedman); dear sister of the late Masato, Mamoru, Katsumi (Kaneshige), Elsie (Murashige), Tadashi, and Harry; cherished aunt to many. Tomi was born on a sugar plantation in Haiku, Maui, grew up in Honolulu, and moved to Chicago in 1948 to marry. She worked as a secretary at S.H. Arnolt, Turtlewax, and Arthur Andersen accounting firm. After retirement Tomi earned a B.A. in philosophy, Magna Cum Laude, from Loyola University. Memorial visitation on Saturday, Nov. 24 from 12 – 2 p.m. followed by service at 2 p.m., Christ Church of Chicago, 6047 N. Rockwell St., Chicago, IL 60659.
