To the family of Marilyn Gibbons:

I am a 1972 graduate of Mother McAuley High School, where I was a student of Mlle Gibbons for three years. I so often wished I knew how
to contact her to tell her that her instruction stood me in good stead
when I visited Paris and later when I worked for a time in Geneva. Now
I see that she must have lived in Lakeview - the same neighborhood my
mother lived in and that I often visited.

When I graduated from McAuley, I went to Carleton University in
Ottawa, Canada, and have subsequently settled in Toronto, where I am a
medical journalist. Before I left for my first year at Carleton - a
university that, because of the distance, I had not visited before
applying and being accepted - I stopped by McAuley and spoke with Miss
Gibbons. She had gone to Ottawa on vacation that summer, and said she
had seen my university. I was greatly relieved to know that it
actually existed, and that there wasn't simply someone with fake
letterhead taking my cheques and sending me bogus acceptance and
registration information!

My condolences to you on the loss of Marilyn. Know that she touched
the lives of scores of McAuley girls.

All the best,
Terry Murray

Truly, I am saddened to learn of Mary's passing. Occasionally, I chatted with her by phone; as always, she was most pleasant conversant. My prayers always will include her and her Dear ones before her. I offer my love and sympathy to her family.

I was so sorry to hear of Marilyn passing away. I went all through school with her at St. John Catholic school and the Academy of Our Lady in Peoria, IL. Her mom and my mom were great friends. I hope the rest of the family are doing alright and hope God’s grace gets you through the loss of a wonderful friend....God bless you all,
