Adrian Hebert
Adrian “Herb” George Hebert, 95, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and son, of Palm Desert, Calif., formerly of the Chicago suburbs (Kankakee, Brookfield, St. Charles and Geneva) passed away Jan. 21, 2011, surrounded by his family. He was born July 15, 1915 to George and Mary (Kare) Hebert in Vincennes, Ind. He married the former Bertha Schmidt April 9, 1942 in Escondido, Calif. He proudly served this great country during World War II as a member of the U.S. Army 736th Battalion in both the Pacific and European theaters (1941-1945). Caring for his loving wife of 68 years, caring for his family, woodworking with his beautiful handmade clocks and telling stories of his lifetime were his greatest joys.
Bertha predeceased him just six months ago. He is survived by his five children, Adrienne Kirkeby (Steve), of Palm Springs, Calif., Maribeth Holback (Frank), of Palm Desert, Margaret Ham (Bob), of Rockton, Ill., John Hebert, of Nashville, Tenn., and Theresa McHugh (Terry), of Columbus, N.J. He doted on his grandchildren, Scott Radous (Christina), Mark Hebert, Adam Hebert, Kalie McHugh, Robert Ham Jr., Kathy Hoffman (John), Jeffrey Ham (Kris), Jessica Ham (Nyle), Daniel Kirkeby, Rachel McHugh and Nicole McHugh. He adored his great-grandchildren, Isabella Radous, Andrew Radous, John R. Hoffman, Rebecca Hoffman, Lahayla Kern and Brayden Clark. He is also survived by his sisters, Alberta Bertrand, of Hot Springs, Ark. and Marjorie Guimond (Bob), of Bourbonnais; sisters-in-law, Doreen Hebert, Sr. Adrienne Schmidt CSJ, Jennie Schmidt and Barbara Schmidt; brother, the Rev. John Hebert of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brothers, Cletus Hebert (Ceil), Gerald Hebert; sister, Peggy Stinespring (Stine); and in-laws, Raymond Bertrand, Vincent Schmidt (Pearl), Anselm Schmidt, James Schmidt and John Schmidt (Beryl).
Herb was a faithful and devoted member of the Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at St. Patrick’s Church, 6N491 Crane Road, St. Charles, IL 60175 with visitation from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Burial is at Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum, Geneva, Ill. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to the Congregation of Sisters of St. Joseph of LaGrange Park, Ill. Arrangements are by Lakeview Funeral Home of Chicago.
