Obituary

Hatayo 'Hattie' Wallen, nee Sagami, is survived by brothers Soya
Sagami and Toshi Sagami, and will be dearly missed by her many
nephews, nieces, and friends.
Wife of the late Adrian Wallen. Born in Fife, WA, she was one of 10 siblings.
She was interned with her family at a Wartime Relocation Camp, then
moved to Chicago in the 1940's.
She was one of the first Japanese American women to work in the print
media/graphics industry in Chicago, was active in various Japanese American and social organizations, and
enjoyed attending the symphony, opera, theater and dance.
Visitation, Saturday, Jan. 22 at Lakeview Funeral Home 1458 W. Belmont
Ave, Chicago IL, 12 noon until time of funeral service at 2pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to Japanese American Service
Committee (JASC) at 4427 N. Clark St. Chicago, IL. 60640 or Japanese American Citizens League at Masao Satow Building, 1765 Sutter St.
SF, CA 94115.
Private interment Maryhill Cemetery.
